Penticton Regional Hospital serves more than 90,000 residents across the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley as a regional referral centre, providing emergency, trauma, medical, surgical, critical care, diagnostic, and outpatient services. With 172 acute care beds, a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit, advanced imaging technology, and modern facilities including the David E. Kampe Tower, PRH delivers comprehensive care close to home.

As a regional referral centre, PRH brings together broad medical and surgical expertise, with teams working across disciplines to provide integrated care throughout the hospital and community.

Family Medicine

Family physicians are integral to care across PRH and the wider community, with opportunities spanning inpatient care, emergency medicine, obstetrics, mental health and addictions, and continuity of care. Their broad scope of practice connects hospital-based services with primary and community care.

Emergency Medicine

PRH's Emergency Department provides 24-hour emergency and trauma care, supported by on-site CT and MRI, ICU and a broad complement of medical and surgical specialists. The department sees approximately 41,000 visits annually and currently has double physician coverage through most daytime and evening hours. 

Internal Medicine

General Internal Medicine provides inpatient and consultative care within PRH, working closely with the ICU and other specialty services. The department supports broad generalist practice, with opportunities to develop subspecialty interests including perioperative care and addictions medicine. 

Surgery

PRH provides general surgery alongside orthopaedic, urologic, ENT, gynecologic and ophthalmologic services, supported by modern surgical facilities in the David E. Kampe Tower. General Surgery includes surgical and endoscopic management of gastrointestinal, breast, skin and endocrine conditions.

Obstetrics & Gynecology

PRH provides obstetrical, gynecological and maternity care through a collaborative model involving obstetricians, family physicians, midwives, pediatricians and nursing. The South Okanagan Maternity Centre, located at PRH, provides interdisciplinary pregnancy, birth and newborn care with seamless referral to specialist services when required. 

Pediatrics

Pediatric services provide inpatient and limited outpatient care for infants, children and adolescents with acute and chronic medical needs, working closely with maternity and other hospital services. PRH also provides pediatric asthma services.

Psychiatry

PRH's Psychiatry Department provides inpatient, outpatient and community-based mental health care across a broad range of patient needs, supported by multidisciplinary teams and close connections with primary care. Current recruitment includes general, child and adolescent, and geriatric psychiatry, as well as family medicine roles in mental health and addictions. 

Anesthesiology

PRH's anesthesiology team supports a broad surgical program including general surgery, orthopedics, urology, ENT and obstetrics/gynecology, as well as selected pediatric procedures. The department also provides perioperative consultation, regional anesthesia, labour and delivery support, and airway support for Emergency and Critical Care. 

Radiology

Diagnostic imaging at PRH includes on-site CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray, fluoroscopy, mammography and nuclear medicine, supporting emergency, inpatient, surgical and outpatient care across the hospital. 

Pathology

PRH provides accredited laboratory and anatomical pathology services, including tissue processing, histology and intraoperative consultation and serves as a referral base for hematology and transfusion medicine for smaller regional hospitals. Its laboratory currently holds full ISO 15189 accreditation through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC's Diagnostic Accreditation Program. 

Critical Care

PRH's 10-bed Intensive Care Unit provides care for critically ill patients and works closely with Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology and other hospital specialties. 

Specialty Services

PRH's regional role is supported by a broad complement of specialty services including neurology, cardiology diagnostics, respirology, ENT, orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology and other medical and surgical specialties, together with extensive ambulatory and outpatient services.
